For the December LIYF on Long Island collaboration, Tabbethia had a specific color in mind - green! There is nothing in nature that directly gives a green color. I knew I needed a yellow that could be modified to green by dipping in a bath of iron water, which I have created myself with some rusty nails and a solution of white vinegar and water. That yellow was goldenrod - an extremely prevalent plant on Long Island.
Depending upon the shade of yellow initially achieved, some skeins will be a bit more on the yellowish side of green than others. These particular shades of green reminded me of the Grinch, which I thought was a really fun green to go along with the holiday season! Whether you’re feeling Grinchy or not this holiday, I hope your heart will grow two sizes when you receive your skein of yarn! ~Lisa~
