These warm socks are the perfect thing to wear on a walk through Fire Island's unique Sunken Forest. So-called because the trees will not row any taller than the dunes that protect them, the Forest is accessible only by ferry. Fox, deer, and many varieties of birds can be seen along the mild-and-a-half elevated boardwalk that winds through the gnarled pines and twisted vines to reduce the impact visitors make on this rare maritime forest ecosystem. Working the granite stitch pattern on these socks is easygoing, too, only four rows long and two are just knit and purl!
