Long Island is well named as it stretches from tip to tip an astounding 118 miles. "Long Lane" in East Hampton is just one of the many bucolic roads on Long Island, coverin a one mile stretch of county land that is off the beaten path for most. It is rich in agricultural soil, home to Long Island's oldest family owned and operated poultry farm, and a road well traveled by me to deear friends. The entrelac technique used in this pattern reminds me of a beautiful, long winding road., Such repetition allows you to get lost in your handiwork and enjoy the stitch as you commit it to memory. A stitch repetition that allows for the versatility of creatin a short "trip" or a long winding one. The open lacework gives a new take on entrelac and offers a light, airy feel for a scarf that can be enjoyed all year long. Life is a journey and we never know where it will take us so be sure to enjoy it along the way. I would have never known where Long Lane would take me but I am sure glad I took the ride.
