The Little River is a tributary of the Peconic River which originates in the bogs and wetlands near Brookhaven National Laboratory and flows eastward to the Peconic Bay.  It is a slow-moving river, making it ideal for peaceful days observing the Pine Barrens from a canoe or kayak.  The pattern of this lacy poncho is like the gentle swirling flow of the Little River.  It is a quick knit on a 10 ½ needle and is simply a rectangle with one seam to create the shape.  Although it looks like a cable pattern, the effect is achieved by double decreases – no cable needle required!
